Threshold Settings


Threshold settings

To configure the threshold settings, you can either edit the settings
  1. globally (Admin > Edit Thresholds) or
  2. for a set of Managed Resources* in bulk from the list views or
  3. for a specific managed resource from its details page.
* Managed resources : any entity which is managed : devices/interfaces/services/hard-disks/memory/etc.,.



Global Threshold Settings

The global threshold settings page will list all the available threshold conditions in the system.

Threshold values, where configurable, specify the value which when reached, will cause the system to generate an alarm.
Rearm value, is the value which when reached, will cause the system to clear the alarm.
The alarm generated when the threshold violates will have the severity as specified by the Severity value.
The violation count specifies the number of consecutive threshold violations to wait for, before generating an alarm.

Managed resources, by default, will be can be configured to make use of the Global settings.

Bulk Edit of Threshold Settings


From any of the list views of the Managed Resources, you can select a specific set of resources and invoke the "Actions" > "Edit Thresholds" menu.

When following this approach, thresholds specific to the resource alone will be available for edit. For example for devices, you can edit the following thresolds..

Note that in bulk mode, you can limit your edit to specific thresholds, while leaving others as-is.

By default all thresholds will be enabled. You can uncheck the "Enabled" option to not apply thresholds for the selected resources. All other values, will take effect only if the threshold is enabled again for the resources.

By choosing the "Use Global", any resource specific threshold configuration is removed and the Global Threshold Settings will be used for the selected resources.



Editing threshold from the details page


Choose the Actions > Edit Thresholds option in the details page to edit the thresholds available for that resource. The form will be similar to the bulk threshold edit page.
